Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and Minister of Foreign Affairs and CARICOM Affairs, Francine Baron are participating in the 25th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM2018) being held from 16th – 20th April 2018 in the United Kingdom.

The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) is a biennial summit meeting of the heads of government from all Commonwealth nations. Every two years the meeting is held in a different member state and is chaired by that nation's respective Prime Minister or President who becomes the Commonwealth Chair-in-Office until the next meeting. Queen Elizabeth II, is the Head of the Commonwealth. The first CHOGM was held in 1971, and there have been 24 held in total: the most recent was held in Valletta, Malta.

The theme of the CHOGM2018 summit is ‘Towards a Common Future’. Leaders from all the fifty-three (53) member countries are expected to gather in London and Windsor. The week of CHOGM begins with four forum events, bringing together representatives from the world of business, civil society and government; where they will come together to reaffirm our common values, address the shared global challenges we face and agree how to work to create a better future for all our citizens, particularly young people.

The British hosts have set out four main goals for the summit:-

· Prosperity: boosting intra-Commonwealth trade and investment

· Security: increasing cooperation across security challenges including global terrorism, organised crime and cyber attacks

· Fairness: promoting democracy, fundamental freedoms and good governance across the Commonwealth

· Sustainability: building the resilience of small and vulnerable states to deal with the effects of climate change and other global crises.

Prime Minister Skerrit is scheduled to address the Commonwealth Business Forum Investment.
