A Year On from Hurricane Maria...
Today marks the one year anniversary since Dominica suffered the dire effects of Hurricane Maria, a critical category 5 storm. It was a devastation which left an aftermath of countless fatalities, displaced families and mass destruction. Today we come together to join hearts with those families who have lost their loved ones. Despite this time of sadness, we must celebrate our resilience and fortitude as a nation, especially in the strong spirit of community and fellowship that we have fostered to help rebuild our country. The High Commission would especially like to extend its warmest gratitude to all organisations and individuals who have supported us and have mobilized resources to assist in the relief effort. We also thank all our international friends who have supported us through their humanitarian assistance and funding.
Even as we continue to heal as a nation, let us thank God and continue to persevere, until we see the nation that we love, restored to its former glory, ‘Dominica, The nature Island’.
